A Lake Piru employee who had been missing for 17 hours was found in the water near the dock Monday morning, possibly the victim of an accidental drowning, authorities said.

Arthur Raymond Caldara was found by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department’s search-and-rescue team at about 11 a.m., sheriff’s deputies said. A co-worker who found the bait shop unlocked Monday morning called deputies to the lake after Caldera failed to arrive for his shift, deputies said.

Fellow employees said Caldera was last seen on the dock of the boat rental area at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies said. Investigators said Caldara may have accidentally fallen into the water Sunday evening and drowned. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
