Stanford Turns Showdown With UCLA Into a Rout

Vanessa Nygaard scored 32 points, including six three-pointers as No. 6 Stanford turned its Pac-10 showdown with UCLA into a runaway by defeating the Bruins, 105-80, Thursday night at Stanford.

Kristin Folkl, playing with a splint over two broken fingers on her right hand, had 19 points. Milena Flores added 18 points and Olympia Scott 14 as the Cardinal (14-5, 10-1) tightened their hold on first place in the conference.

It was the most points given up by the Bruins this season. Stanford has now won eight in a row overall and 62 conference games in a row at Maples Pavilion.

Maylana Martin led UCLA (14-7, 9-3) with 14 points. The Bruins had their five-game winning streak snapped. Marie Philman and Tawana Grimes had 12 points apiece.

USC outscored California by 10 points in the second half to break open a close game in a 62-50 victory at Berkeley.

Kim Clark had 16 points off the bench for USC (10-11, 5-7). Masa Radovic led Cal (5-6, 1-10) with 14 points.
