Identical twins Andy and Eddie Moro were born 53 minutes apart.

“I feel sorry for my mom,” Andy said. “She went through a lot of pain.”

The Moros were more timely on the wrestling mat Thursday night, recording pins minutes apart to help San Fernando High earn a 34-31 victory over El Camino Real in a City Section West Division dual meet at El Camino Real.

For San Fernando (11-3, 4-0 in City meets), the victory was the first over perennial power El Camino Real in five years. The Tigers, who will meet El Camino Real next week in the City dual meet championships, appear to be favorites to win a City title for the first time since 1991.

El Camino Real (8-4-1, 3-1), defending City champion, has won three of the past six City titles.

The teams each recorded seven victories, with San Fernando dominating the lower weights and El Camino Real winning the final three bouts.

Andy Moro (130 pounds), a junior and two-time defending City champion, gave San Fernando a 19-3 lead by pinning Noe Duran in 1 minute 18 seconds.

Andy was still catching his breath when Eddie flattened Ryan Lewis in 2:24 in the 135-pound match.

Andy improved to 22-5. Eddie, City champion last season, is 21-5.

“Me and my brother do go at it,” Andy said. “That’s what’s great about being a twin.”

Said Eddie: “He gives me the most competition during practice.”

Andres Cruz of San Fernando also recorded a pin against Eugene Korchmarer in 3:32 of a 160-pound match.

For El Camino Real, Sal Flores (140), James Carco (189) and John Grogan (215) all recorded pins.

Grogan, who usually competes as a heavyweight, upset Eduardo Hernandez in 4:25.

Senior Keith Thomas of El Camino Real, who returned from reconstructive knee surgery last month, improved to 8-0 with a 13-4 victory over Tony Mendoza at 152.
