Board Chairman Elected at Nationwide Health Properties

* Charles D. Miller has been elected chairman of the board of directors of Nationwide Health Properties Inc. in Newport Beach, a real estate investment trust that invests in health care facilities. He has been on the board since 1985. Miller is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Avery Dennison Inc. In addition, Jack D. Samuelson has been appointed chairman of the company’s investment committee. Both positions were formerly held by Milton J. Brock Jr., who will remain on the board. Also, John C. Argue has been elected to the board. He is counsel to the law firm of Argue Pearson Harbison & Myers and is also a director of Avery Dennison Corp. and CalMat Co.

* Steven J. Insoft has joined Nationwide Health Properties as vice president of development. Based in Boston, he will have acquisition and new business development responsibilities throughout the country. Insoft was formerly president of CMI Senior Housing and Healthcare Inc.

* Brad C. Hoover has been named senior vice president of Eldorado Bank in Irvine. He will supervise commercial lending for the southern Orange County and San Diego County offices. Hoover has been a regional vice president since 1993.

* Aurelio E. Fernandez has joined Broadcom Corp. in Irvine as vice president of worldwide sales. Fernandez comes to Broadcom from Exar Corp., where he was senior vice president of worldwide sales. Before that, he was senior vice president of worldwide sales at IC Works Inc.

* Cindy Hearn has joined Sprint PCS Southern California/Nevada in Irvine as vice president of marketing. She had been director of marketing for Union Oil Co. of California.

* Patrick F. Cadigan and Gerald T. Hudspeth have been appointed to the board of directors of SK&A; Information Services, an Irvine provider of health care information services and databases. Cadigan has held top-level positions with Gateway Communications Inc. and Technology Marketing Inc. in Irvine; EECO Inc. of Santa Ana; and Linear Instruments Corp. of Reno. Hudspeth is currently president and managing director of Portfolio Financial of Portland and New York.

* Dougall Agan has been named the 1998 president of the Orange County chapter of the National Assn. of Industrial and Office Properties. Agan is vice president of marketing and commercial and industrial development for Foothill Ranch Co. in Laguna Hills.

* Lawrence P. Ball has been appointed senior vice president of advisory services for Strategic HR Services in Newport Beach, a subsidiary of CB Commercial/Koll Management Services. Ball has previously been senior project manager with the Orange County Transportation Authority and regional manager of the Employers Group.

* Justine M. Casey has been made a partner in the Orange County office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP. Casey, who has been with the firm since 1989, specializes in insurance litigation.

* Jim Helm has been named vice president and general manager of Mailing & Marketing Inc., a direct mail advertising company in Orange. He had been production manager.

* James M. Iacometti has been made a partner of Kushner, Smith, Joanou & Gregson LLP. He has been with the Irvine CPA firm since 1987.

* Bill Bussiere has been appointed to the newly created position of senior vice president for the Mervin Manufacturing and Quiksilver Wintersports division of Costa Mesa-based Quiksilver Inc. He was most recently executive vice president for Baby Guess? in Los Angeles. Bussiere has also held senior executive level positions with Patagonia and Apparel Ventures Inc.

* Jamie S. MacDonald has been appointed president of the Orange County chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She will be responsible for overseeing the development and management of the chapter’s fund-raising programs, client service programs and all budgetary concerns. MacDonald was previously chief operating officer of AIDS Project Los Angeles.

* Vincent S. Pino is the new president of Alliance Imaging Inc., an Anaheim-based provider of magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography services. Richard N. Zehner, the former president, will retain the titles of chairman of the board and chief executive. Kenneth S. Ord has been named chief financial officer.

* Mark Chealander has joined Costa Mesa-based FileNet Corp. as vice president, engineering. He was formerly vice president of research and development for Traveling Software. Chealander will oversee all engineering operations in FileNet’s Bellevue, Wash., development center.

* Gary L. Dreher has been named vice president of sales and marketing for AMDL Inc., a Tustin maker of diagnostic kits. He had been president of Medical Market International in Yorba Linda, a marketing and management services company he co-founded.

* Jennifer Miller has joined the Schraff Group, a Newport Beach marketing communications agency, as production manager. She was previously production manager at Access Creative Communications in Redondo Beach.

* Joyce A. Kakkis has been appointed chief medical officer of MaterniCare Inc., a Laguna Hills practice management and network service organization. Kakkis is president and chief executive of WomanKind, a women’s health care practice. WomanKind and MaterniCare entered into a business partnership in 1997.

* Richard H. Nance has been named vice president and chief financial officer of General Automation Inc. in Irvine. He succeeds John Donnelly, who left the company earlier this month. Nance most recently served as chief financial officer of Wiz Technology Inc. He has also been chief financial officer of Mortgage BancFund Corp. in Irvine and Calspectre Management in Mission Viejo.

* Michael D. Henton has been elected to the board of directors of Sunwest Bank in Tustin. He is president of North American Capital Partners, a Newport Beach investment banking firm.

* Linda S. Elder has been appointed president of Shore Resources Inc. in Newport Beach, an employment and search firm. She succeeds Mark Shore, chief executive, who started the company in 1976. Elder joined the company in 1980 and was named vice president in 1994. In 1995, she was made a partner.

* Jefferson E. Hill Jr. has been named director of real estate development for the Southern California office of Opus West Corp. in Irvine. He was previously vice president and senior broker with PM Realty Group and vice president with Tooley & Co.

* Tom Thomas and Paul Wright have joined the board of directors of ATL Products Inc. in Irvine. Thomas is chief information officer for 3Com Corp. in Santa Clara. Wright has more than 30 years of senior management experience, including positions as chairman of Chrysler Technologies Corp., president and chief operating officer of Fairchild Industries Inc., and senior vice president responsible for planning RCA’s merger with General Electric Corp.
