Park District Workers

Share

I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the Conejo Recreation and Park District.

On Feb. 6, a section of Tarantula Hill, the highest peak in Thousand Oaks, collapsed from the torrential rains, and the resulting mud and water threatened my home, as well as the homes of several neighbors.

The men and women from the park district worked for many hours removing the mud from the channels so the water could flow, as well as trying to stabilize the hill with plastic sheeting. They made a steady stream of sandbags and surrounded our homes to protect [them] from the mud and water. At one time we had a river flowing in our yard, but their efforts kept it from coming inside.

We may have El Nino against us but I am glad to have these wonderful people on our side.
