After diminutive guard Haywood Eaddy made a three-point basket and added a free throw for a four-point play, Loyola Marymount (7-18, 3-10 in the WCC) trailed only 69-68 with 56 seconds left.
But Jason Franklin went untouched for a layup for Portland (14-11, 7-6).
