Interstate Electronics Announces New President

Richard E. Tierney has been named president of Figgie International’s Interstate Electronics division in Anaheim. He succeeds Lawrence A. LaCotti, who is retiring after seven years with the division. Tierney was formerly president of Whittaker Electronics Systems, and before that, president of the Defense Systems North America subsidiary of Smiths Industries PLC.

Jamison Ashby has been appointed chief operating officer of Systems Management Specialists, a Santa Ana information technology company, Ashby was previously president and chief executive at South Coast Rehab Services in Laguna Hills.

Fabian Battaglia has been named vice president of sales for LinFinity Microelectronics Inc. in Garden Grove, a subsidiary of Symmetricom Inc. Roger Holliday has been appointed vice president of marketing. Mark Granahan, senior vice president of business development, who previously was responsible for the company’s marketing and product development activities, now oversees LinFinity’s worldwide sales organization as well. In addition, Shufan Chan, senior vice president and chief technology officer, has been assigned overall responsibility for a consolidated worldwide manufacturing function.

Barry S. Arbuckle has been appointed chief executive of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills. He was previously chief executive of Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center. Memorial Health Services is the parent company of both centers. In addition, LaDonna Butler was named chief operating officer of Saddleback. She had been senior vice president of operations.

Justin Wallin has joined the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace in Yorba Linda as director of sales and events. He succeeds Noah McMahon, who is now president of McMahon Marketing. The Nixon Library will be one of his clients.

T. Michael McLean has been named vice president of Toshiba America Medical Systems’ ultrasound business unit. He was previously with Johnson & Johnson Clinical Diagnostics, and prior to that, worked for Beckman Instruments for 15 years in a variety of capacities including director of North America sales and marketing, area business manager, program manager, product marketing manager, and North America sales planning manager.

Barbara E. Willis has been named vice president of First American Title Insurance Co. in Santa Ana. She retains her position as manager of statutory accounting. Willis joined First American in 1977.

Kathy Kosmowski has been appointed art director of RiechesBaird, a Huntington Beach advertising, marketing and public relations firm. She has been with the agency for more than two years as a Mac specialist.

Robert J. Ohlund has joined ASL Consulting Engineers’ Irvine office as a senior managing engineer for the water/wastewater group. Ohlund has been a consultant to cities, and water and sewer agencies for the past 15 years.

Martha Kleine has been named director of sales for the Newport Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau. Kleine, who has been with the bureau for 10 years, had been national sales manager.

Neil Amor has joined Keller, Coad & Collins Investment Counsel in Irvine as a vice president. He will develop and manage investment accounts. Bates Reese joined the financial planning and portfolio management firm after 25 years with Xerox Corp.

Irene E. Ziebarth has been appointed to the Assessment Appeals Board No. 4 by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. She is a mediator and arbitrator at the Orange office of JAMS/Endispute, a provider of alternative dispute resolution services.

Melford Placilla has joined Sverdrup Civil Inc. in Costa Mesa as vice president, director of transportation for the Western region. He formerly held management positions at Greiner Inc. and Robert, Bein, Frost and Associates.

Suzanne Farney has been named district manager at Merit Property Management Inc. in Mission Viejo. Farney joined the company in 1996 as an account executive.

Moiz Beguwala has been named vice president and general manager for Rockwell Semiconductor Systems’ Personal Computing division. Lewis Brewster assumes Beguwala’s prior position as vice president of worldwide sales. Brewster will continue as acting executive director of Americas Sales until a replacement is found.

Robert W. Hodgson has been elected to the board of Sunwest Bank in Tustin. His 27 years of experience in the banking industry include being president and chief executive of First Collateral Services Inc. in Mission Viejo, executive vice president at Independence One Bank of California, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Bowest Corp., and 15 years at the Southern California headquarters of Bank of America.

Herb Reynolds has been named executive vice president of Marine National Bank’s new financial services division. The new division will be at the bank’s building in Koll Center-Irvine. Reynolds was previously with Pacific National Bank.

Thomas E. Ware has been appointed senior vice president-credit and operations for Rockford Industries Inc. in Santa Ana. He was most recently at the National Cooperative Bank, a Washington, D.C.-based merchant bank. Ware has also held positions with Sequa Capital Corp.
