Maylana Martin scored 24 points to lead UCLA to an 87-73 victory over USC on Saturday before a regular-season record crowd of 7,258 at Pauley Pavilion.

The Trojans, 10-13 overall and 5-9 in the Pacific 10 Conference, held a 27-19 lead before the Bruins (16-7, 11-3) rallied to take a 38-36 lead with 3:59 left in the first half.

UCLA never lost the advantage. The Bruins went ahead, 53-40, with 16:58 to play and the margin never got closer than nine points.

Adrain Williams led USC with 24 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Kristin Clark added 20 points.

The record crowd was the third highest for a women’s game at Pauley Pavilion. The previous regular-season record was 5,662, set earlier this season against Stanford.

Saturday’s crowd was in large part due to the fact that the Bruins were honoring the 1978 national championship team and the 15 greatest UCLA women’s players of all time, many of whom were on hand.

During the 1978 NCAA title game against Maryland, the crowd was 9,351, still the largest to see a UCLA women’s game at Pauley.
