Motel 6 Memories

Thank you for the many happy memories sparked by your article on Santa Barbara and the original Motel 6 (“A Motel to Wait for,” Weekend Escape, Jan. 11).

My mother, father and I were visiting my sister and her family when the motel opened. Your article brought back my daddy taking me to see this place that was going to charge $6 a night, guaranteed! No frills! I’m sending the article to my sister, who will share it with our 87 1/2-year-old mother.
