My Favorite Weekend

“General Hospital’s” Ingo Rademacher is co-host of the Soap Opera Digest Awards Saturday at Universal Amphitheatre and is a nominee for hottest male star.

A Quiet Night: Fridays, I like to go out to dinner with friends, either to Hama Sushi down in Venice or Georgia on Melrose for soul food. I call it an early night so I can get up early and hit the beach.

An El Nin~o Fan: Saturdays, I head out to surf with Mike Newman, the real-life lifeguard on “Baywatch.” Lately we’ve just been surfing close by in Santa Monica, at the end of Sunset Boulevard. With El Nin~o, it’s just been amazing.

In Training: Mike and I also train year-round for triathlons and lifeguard competitions. I usually train at least once, if not twice a day, running on soft sand, swimming, kayaking and rescue-board paddling in the ocean.

Tuning Out: I don’t watch TV over the weekends, or really ever for that matter. I just don’t find much of it interesting. I do look at my own shows so I can see where I can improve.

Island Getaway: If I really wanted to treat myself, I’d borrow a friend’s boat and go to Catalina. We’d anchor at Avalon and rent a golf cart to drive around in. Then we would hang out, go snorkeling if it’s warm enough and just have fun. It’s great because we can stay all weekend and sleep on the boat.

The Big Chill: Sundays during the winter, I like to get friends together to go skiing in Big Bear. It’s usually a long day so we just head back after the lifts close so I can relax Sunday night before the workweek starts.
