Work Relocates Ramp at Katella Avenue
An onramp at Katella Avenue to the northbound Santa Ana Freeway has been relocated for about a year, making way for reconstruction of the nearby interchange.
Crews will rebuild the Katella overpass as an under-crossing in an effort to improve traffic flow on the Santa Ana Freeway and local streets.
Motorists will be detoured to a temporary onramp at Anaheim Boulevard, about half a mile from the Katella onramp.
As an alternate route, officials suggest motorists take Katella east to Lewis Street north, turn left on Cerritos Avenue and left again at Anaheim Boulevard. A short distance away is the temporary freeway onramp.
The work is part of a $1.1-billion project to improve the Santa Ana Freeway through north Orange County and is expected to be completed in 2000.
