Girl, 12, Is Found Dead in Apartment’s Stairway Closet
A 12-year-old girl reported missing from her Alhambra apartment was found dead Friday afternoon in a closet under the stairway of the home.
The body of Vanessa Marie Sanchez was found about 4 p.m. in the apartment on Granada Street, said Deputy Joan Raber. Homicide investigators said the girl had suffered injuries and that her death did not appear to be of natural causes.
The girl had reportedly been living in the apartment with her mother. The mother was being questioned about the death, officials said.
