FRESHWATER

CASTAIC LAKE--Striped bass, largemouth bass and trout bites fair to good. Top catches: Greg Glogow, Valencia, several stripers, largest 19 3/4 pounds. Chris Burrows, Valencia, three stripers, Trout are in the 1- to 2-pound class.

LAKE PIRU--Trollers fair for trout, with the best bite along east shore between Cow Cove and San Felicia Cove. Rapalas, Needlefish and Kastmasters all getting fish.

PYRAMID LAKE--Striped bass averaging 3-7 pounds biting steadily on anchovies. Largemouth and smallmouth bass bites fair in morning hours.

LAKE CACHUMA--Trout bite fair for trollers using Needlefish lures at east end. Red ear perch still taking night crawlers in Cachuma Bay.

LAKE CASITAS--Heavy trout plants recently have taken some of the pressure off the bass. Catfish bite still going strong.

CORONA LAKE--The warm spell has slowed the trout bite during the day, but morning fishermen working the north part of the lake with Kastmasters and Power Bait are doing best.

SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES--Forty rainbow trout topping 10 pounds, including a 20-pounder by Billy Nelson, Anaheim, on Power Bait at Kid’s Lake.

IRVINE LAKE--Trout remain the primary target, and the east shore remains the most productive area. Power Bait, salmon eggs and inflated night crawlers are top baits.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE--Limits of trout the rule, according to lake staff. Average weight per fish, 1-2 pounds.

LAKE SKINNER--No trout plant scheduled this week, so the striped bass will go deep.

LAKE PERRIS--Top catch, a 15-8 largemouth bass by Scott Brownlie, Apple Valley, on Castaic Soft Trout lure.

SILVERWOOD LAKE--Colder water has slowed all bites.

LAKE CUYAMACA--Trout bite fair for the second week in a row.

MORRO BAY (Virg’s Landing)--47 anglers (1 boat): 11 lingcod, 200 red rockcod, 505 rockcod.

AVILA BAY (Port San Luis)--36 anglers (1 boat): 108 red rockcod, 432 assorted rockcod.

SANTA BARBARA (Hornet Landing)--15 anglers (1 boat): 5 calico bass, 6 sand bass, 2 sculpin, 8 whitefish, 1 lingcod, 2 red snapper, 32 rockfish, 10 mackerel.

VENTURA (Capt. Hook’s)--24 anglers (1 boat): 100 rockfish, 89 sculpin, 3 sheephead, 15 whitefish, 16 yellowtail, 3 lingcod.

OXNARD (Cisco’s)--68 anglers (4 boats): 1 mako shark, 11 bonito, 4 cowcod 11 lingcod, 120 red snapper 50 rockcod, 730 rockfish, 27 sculpin, 6 sheephead, 13 whitefish.

PORT HUENEME--18 anglers (1 boat): 37 sand bass, 1 lingcod, 25 rockfish, 49 sculpin, 16 whitefish.

REDONDO--74 anglers (3 boats): 150 perch, 1 halibut, 9 sculpin, 7 sheephead, 19 whitefish, 1 china croaker, 200 mackerel, 82 rockfish.
