Literacy Council Seeking Tutors

The San Fernando Literacy Council is looking for English language and literacy tutors to teach reading and writing, and in some cases math and speaking.

Training classes for English-language tutors will be held Jan. 10, 17 and 31 at First United Methodist Church of Sepulveda, 15435 Rayen St. in North Hills.

Classes for literacy tutors will be held Jan. 17 and 31 at the church.

Children’s Bureau of Southern California is seeking foster parents to provide short- or long-term care for needy children.

A foster-parent orientation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Community Room of the Valencia Town Center, 24201 W. Valencia Blvd.

Columbia West Hills Medical Center is seeking volunteers for a variety of positions.

Volunteers of all ages are needed to donate a minimum of four hours a week. Volunteers will be trained by hospital staff members.
