Arizona Leaves USC Behind

Adia Barnes scored 30 points and freshman Reshea Bristol had 19 as No. 10 Arizona defeated USC, 81-69, in a Pacific 10 Conference game Sunday at the Lyon Center.

Arizona, 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-10, trailed, 20-16, midway through the first half, then went on a 20-4 run. Barnes scored eight points during the run that gave Arizona a 36-24 lead with 3:05 left in the half.

Kristin Clark had 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals for USC (6-5, 1-1).

Marte Alexander had 11 points and 11 rebounds for Arizona, which outrebounded USC, 42-31.

UCLA 95, Arizona State 73--Maylana Martin had 22 points and nine rebounds to lead the Bruins to a Pac-10 victory at Pauley Pavilion.

Melanie Pearson keyed the Bruins’ 61-point second-half effort by scoring 14 of her 18 points in the final 20 minutes.

UCLA led, 34-32, at halftime. The Bruins (6-5, 1-1) were ahead, 50-44, with 13:30 left before a 16-5 run gave them a 66-49 lead with 9:25 to play.

Pearson, a sophomore from Irvine, scored nine points during the run, including two three-pointbaskets. She made three three-point shots in the game.

Stephanie Freeman scored 17 points for Arizona State (4-7, 0-2).
