In a trek that will take her from Agoura Hills to North Hills, U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) will tour four sites in the San Fernando Valley today as part of a visit to Southern California.

Boxer, who is running for reelection to the Senate this year, plans to meet with students and faculty at elementary schools in Agoura Hills and North Hills, tour the Santa Monica Mountains and help preside over the opening of a shelter for survivors of domestic violence during her Valley visit, aides said.

“All four of these things have been on her ‘to do’ list for some time,” said Larry Kaplan, a spokesman for Boxer. “We grouped them together for logistical reasons.”

Boxer will begin her tour at 10 a.m. at Willow Elementary School in Agoura Hills, where she will view the school’s state-of-the-art computer lab. She was invited to Willow by a student who sent the invitation by e-mail over the Internet, officials said.

At 11:30 a.m., Boxer will meet with park officials for a tour of the Santa Monica Mountains.

“The Santa Monica Mountains have been one of her priorities in fighting for appropriations in the Senate,” Kaplan said. “But she’s never had a chance to get a really good look at the area.”

At 1:30 p.m., Boxer will join City Councilman Richard Alarcon and other officials for the grand opening of Harbour Center, a transitional housing complex in the northeast Valley for survivors of domestic violence.

Boxer will conclude her tour with a visit at 3 p.m. to Langdon Avenue Elementary School in North Hills, where she will announce a gift of 10 computers that were donated by American Airlines’ Sabre Group, aides said.
