One Half Enough for Bulls’ Jackson

From Associated Press

Phil Jackson charged onto the court, cursing and flailing his arms, clearly unhappy about losing to the Miami Heat.

It’s something he’s not accustomed to.

Jackson was ejected for the first time in four seasons Wednesday night, and he can be grateful about missing the second half of the Heat’s 99-72 victory over his Chicago Bulls.

It was Miami’s biggest winning margin this season, and Chicago’s most lopsided loss since a 28-point defeat at New York in March 1996.

Jackson departed with four seconds left in the first half after he became angry about a technical foul called on Dennis Rodman.

Washington 110, Boston 108--Not since Larry Bird was around has anyone put on such a show for the Celtics as Antoine Walker did at Washington and the Wizards were barely able to overcome it.

Walker scored 49 points and helped cut a fourth-quarter deficit from 16 points to two.

Orlando 83, Toronto 81--Vernon Maxwell, playing his second game since joining the Magic, scored 18 points at Toronto as Orlando broke a four-game losing streak.

New York 89, New Jersey 88--Chris Childs scored on a drive around the Nets’ Sam Cassell with 6.3 seconds left in overtime, and Cassell injured his shoulder on a controversial final play at Madison Square Garden.

Cassell, who scored a career-high 34 points, appeared to be fouled by Allan Houston as he shot a 20-foot jumper with under a second left.

San Antonio 96, Denver 89--The Nuggets set a team record with their 15th consecutive loss as David Robinson scored 22 points to lead the Spurs at San Antonio.

Phoenix 92, Minnesota 77--The Suns had six players in score in double figures as they won for the eighth time in 10 games.

Charlotte 91, Portland 89--David Wesley knocked Kenny Anderson’s shot away, then made an 18-foot jump shot with 2.2 seconds to play to give the Hornets the victory at Portland.

Atlanta 106, Golden State 86--Steve Smith had a season-high 35 points at Oakland to help the Hawks snap a seven-game losing streak.
