Wolves Outlast Ice Dogs

ROSEMONT, Ill. — Steve Maltais and Ravil Gusmanov scored goals in a six-minute span of the second period Saturday night, giving the Chicago Wolves a 2-1 victory over the Long Beach Ice Dogs before 16,301.
The Wolves (31-9-2) broke Long Beach’s nine-game unbeaten streak and remained in first place in the International Hockey League.
Mike Buzak stopped 37 of 39 shots, but it wasn’t enough for the Ice Dogs (25-14-6), who are tied with the Utah Grizzlies for second place in the Southwest Division.
Andrei Vasilyev gave Long Beach a 1-0 lead at 6:56 of the second period, his team-leading 23rd goal of the season.
