Fish Detail--The past, present and future of the Bolsa Chica ecosystem will be the topic of the Amigos de Bolsa Chica’s general meeting Wednesday. Bob Hoffman of the National Marine Fisheries Service, one of those responsible for preparing the restoration plan for Bolsa Chica, will discuss the outcome for fish and marine organisms. The public is welcome at the meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in room B8 of Huntington Beach City Hall, 2000 Main St. Information: (714) 897-7003.

On Saturday, the Amigos will hold their 22nd annual “Bolsa Bash,” featuring music, food and a silent auction. It runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Seagate Clubhouse at the corner of Edinger Ave. and Bonaire Circle. Cost is $15 per person. Information: (714) 897-7003.

vl,2 Remains of the Day--Fossil finds from local excavations will be explained and charted by paleontologist Steve Conkling at an Orange County Marine Institute lecture Wednesday. Marine fossils, from whales to small-shelled animals, have been uncovered recently. The program begins at 7 p.m. in the institute’s Whale Room, 24200 Dana Point Harbor Drive, Dana Point. Tour on Tap--How much do you know about the water you use every day? The Santa Margarita Water District is offering a free water issues course and tour Jan. 24 to help its customers learn more. The course covers the history and politics of water in Southern California, ground water, reclaimed water and quality, conservation and rates. Plane View--How an airport at El Toro would affect nature and the environment is the subject of a free lecture Tuesday at the Sea Country Community Center, 24602 Aliso Creek Road, Laguna Niguel. Bill Kogerman, executive director of Taxpayers for Responsible Planning, is the guest speaker.
