KINGS-DUCKS REPORT

Share

The Ducks continued to tinker with their roster, sending seldom-used forward Kevin Todd to the Long Beach Ice Dogs and recalling center Bob Wren from Cincinnati of the American Hockey League.

If history is any indication, the move probably means the end of Todd’s career with the Ducks. The Ducks sent defenseman Adrian Plavsic and winger Valeri Karpov to the Ice Dogs last season and neither returned to Anaheim.

Todd, who had four goals and 10 points in 24 games, almost was traded last month to the Tampa Bay Lightning. But the deal fell through at the last minute and other efforts to trade Todd, making $600,000 this season, also failed.

Coach Pierre Page had scratched Todd, who was selected from the waiver wire from the Pittsburgh Penguins at the start of last season, in four of the past five games.

Wren led Cincinnati in scoring with 20 goals and 48 points in 39 games. He also was seventh in the AHL in scoring. Wren was a healthy scratch Monday against the Kings.

Page on what he told the Ducks before they upset the Dallas Stars, 2-1, in overtime Sunday: “We told them we don’t need 10 wins we just need one. Let’s get one big win and build from there.”
