VENTURA — Nominations are being accepted to fill a seat on the Ventura school board that will be vacated by trustee Diane Harriman this month.
Ending six years of board service, the 68-year-old Harriman announced her resignation this week because of family and personal commitments. The resignation is effective Jan. 28.
Anyone interested in serving on the board must be nominated by the Feb. 10 board meeting. Nominees must be over 18 years old and live within the school district boundaries. District employees are not eligible.
Nominations will be formally accepted at the meeting. Candidates will be asked to fill out questionnaires detailing their qualifications and educational background and return them to district headquarters by Feb. 13.
A special board meeting will be held Feb. 19 to interview candidates, and a new trustee will be chosen at the board’s Feb. 24 meeting to fill the remaining 21 months of Harriman’s term.
Candidates should call the superintendent’s office at 652-7233.
