Tustin Rallies, Beats Rosary in Overtime

Jacky Williams scored five of her 18 points in overtime as Tustin overcame a 17-point deficit and scored a 69-61 Golden West League victory over Rosary in a girls’ basketball game Thursday.

Brook Brown scored 15 for Tustin (14-3, 4-0), which trailed, 39-22, at halftime.

Rosary (11-8, 2-2), a league favorite and top-10 team earlier this season, was led by Maggie Barnett (17 points) and Romina Bollini (15 points).

In other Golden West League games:

Ocean View 51, Santa Ana 35--Anna Lembke (13 rebounds) scored 12 of her 18 points in the first quarter as Ocean View (9-9, 2-2) took a 22-9 lead. Nelly Abarca scored 11 points and had five steals for Santa Ana (2-16, 0-4).

Westminster 61, Saddleback 47--Tara Moore (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Janet Glasby (21 points) led the Lions (16-4, 4-0). Prabjot Kaur scored 14 for Saddleback (5-16, 0-4).

In the Empire League:

No. 7 El Dorado 69, Kennedy 46--Stephanie Patten scored a single game school-record 36 points, breaking Jamie Nebeker’s 1996 record of 33. El Dorado is 15-3, 3-0.

Loara 64, Katella 53 (OT)--Loara (12-6, 2-1) made six of eight free throws in overtime.

In the Olympic League:

Brethren Christian 37, Ontario Christian 36--Rachael MacDonald (18 points, 14 rebounds) and Cindy Oparah (10 points, 13 rebounds) led Brethren (11-6, 3-0).

Calvary Chapel 68, Whittier Christian 24--Christy Ring scored 19 for Calvary Chapel (15-3, 3-0).

In the Orange League:

No. 1 Brea Olinda 85, Valencia 35--Brea Olinda outscored Valencia in the third quarter, 27-0. Erin Kelly scored 19 points and had five steals for Brea Olinda (14-1). Lindsey Davidson added 18 points, 10 steals and four assists.

Savanna 51, Magnolia 47--Cristina Aquino scored 14 of her game-high 21 points in the second half, including six in the final quarter, to lift Savanna (4-12, 1-1). Clorinda Dorame added 19 points. Lindsay Licari scored 16 for Magnolia (7-8, 0-2).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Aliso Niguel 54, Estancia 41--Kristin Moorehouse scored 29 points and had 12 rebounds for Aliso Niguel (9-8, 3-0). Amy Deming scored 16 for Estancia.

In the Sea View League:

No. 9 El Toro 50, Santa Margarita 33--El Toro (15-2, 3-0) held Santa Margarita to single-digit scoring in each quarter. Giuliana Mendiola (17 points) led all scorers. Kate Toman led Santa Margarita (10-8, 1-2) with 11 points.

Irvine 49, Woodbridge 46--Woodbridge (9-9, 1-2), losing to Irvine for the first time in 12 years, lost its second in a row after winning 51 consecutive league games. Lauren O’Hara (11 points, 18 rebounds) led Irvine (11-5, 3-0).

In the South Coast League:

No. 2 San Clemente 72, Mission Viejo 23--Debby Caine scored 14 points and Colleen Turnbull added 11 for San Clemente (17-3, 3-0).

No. 4 Capistrano Valley 60, Trabuco Hills 34--Natasha Combs scored 18 for Capistrano Valley (13-3, 3-0), and teammate Monique Mathews added 17. Suzanne Linn scored 16 for Trabuco Hills (12-6, 1-2).

In the Sunset League:

No. 3 Esperanza 66, Huntington Beach 34--Heidi Hill had nine points and seven assists for the Aztecs (12-6, 3-0).

No. 5 Marina 57, Los Alamitos 41--Los Alamitos cut a 17-point deficit to five midway through the third quarter, but a 16-2 run by the Vikings (16-3, 3-0) put the game out of reach. Chanda McLeod had 14 points and six steals for Marina.

No. 8 Edison 68, Fountain Valley 52--Michelle Zylstra had 21 points, eight rebounds and six blocks for Edison (17-2, 2-1).
