An Alhambra woman has been elected to the executive body of the Tournament of Roses and in 2006 is scheduled to become the group’s first female president.

Libby Evans Wright is slated to select the theme for the 117th Rose Parade, announced Dick E. Ratliff, the newly confirmed 1998-99 parade president.

A banker and health care executive for more than two decades, Wright mostly recently was head of the committee in charge of television and radio coverage of the New Year’s Day parade.

Wright, who attended UCLA and the University of Michigan, is the secretary of the board of directors of Pasadena-based Pacific Clinics.

Meanwhile Ratliff, a 32-year member, announced “Echoes of the Century” as the Theme of 110th Rose Parade.

“The 1999 Rose Parade will tell the story of the 20th century,” said the La Canada Flintridge resident. “It will recall events, people and things . . . a reflection of the last 100 years in flowers, design and animation.”
