In addition, the center’s La Societe de Pourcentage, a group of members who match a percentage of the funds raised, contributed $21,000 for the year. * During activities celebrating its 75th anniversary this month, the Webb Schools in Claremont received a $2-million gift from alumnus Robert A. Hefner of Aspen, Colo. Hefner, a member of the class of 1959, was inspired by his former science teacher, Raymond A. Alf, 92, who will be reunited with Hefner on a visit to the campus on Monday. Half of the donation will establish a science chair honoring Alf, and the other half will go to an endowment for future purchases of science equipment.
