All that needs to be said about this 90-minute special is that it was produced in association with NFL Films. If NFL Films is involved, you know it is good and this show is very good.

It kicks off Super Bowl Reunion Week for Classic Sports Network. Besides the 25th anniversary of the NFL’s last perfect season, Classic Sports will feature the Dallas Cowboys’ championship season of 1977 (Tuesday), the history of the Super Bowl (Wednesday), the 1982 and ’87 Washington Redskins in separate shows (Thursday), Super Bowl heroes (Friday), the 1967 Green Bay Packers (Saturday) and the Super Bowl Dream Team (Saturday).

It’s enough to keep you glued to Classic Sports all week.

Dan Dierdorf is the host of the Dolphin special. The focal point of the show is a boat ride he takes with nose tackle Manny Fernandez, guard Bob Kuechenberg and quarterback Earl Morrall, who talk about their memories of 1972. But the show is much more than that. There is the NFL Films footage, plus many interviews. Opponents such as Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier of the Pittsburgh Steelers are included.

Maybe the best part is that Morrall, who subbed for injured Bob Griese from the fifth game on before being replaced by Griese at halftime of the AFC title game, gets some well-deserved credit for the ’72 Dolphins’ success.
