STM Splits Into Three Units

STM Wireless Inc., moving to expand sales and boost marketing, has separated its core business into three independent units and revamped its management team, officials said Wednesday.

The manufacturer of wireless communication products will run its digital video and systems integration services through STM Network Systems, its telecommunications service through Direc-To-Phone International Inc., and Internet telephony products through Telecom Multimedia Systems Inc.

Jack Acker, the former chief executive of Telecom International, which STM Wireless acquired late last year, was named president of STM Network Systems. Frank T. Connors, executive vice president of STM Wireless, was named president of Direc-To-Phone. Michael Lindsay, former chief operating officer of STM Wireless, will become chief operating officer of Direc-To-Phone.
