Three of a Kind Wins for Dos Pueblos

Ryan Holbrook of Dos Pueblos High hit a three-point shot from the left corner as time expired to give the Chargers a 78-76 victory over Oxnard in a Channel League boys’ basketball game on Wednesday night at Oxnard.

Holbrook scored 20 points and hit six three-point shots, including three in the fourth quarter to help Dos Pueblos (17-2, 7-0 in league play) win its 11th consecutive game and give the Chargers sole possession of first place.

Oxnard (11-6, 5-2) led, 72-67, with 36 seconds left, and 74-69, with 20 seconds remaining, but the Yellowjackets missed two of four free throws while Dos Pueblos sank three three-point shots.

Holbrook’s fifth three-pointer cut the Chargers’ deficit to 74-72 with 12 seconds left and Shantay Legans hit another to cut Dos Pueblos’ deficit to 76-75 with seven seconds remaining.

Oxnard’s Damian Tafoya was fouled on the inbounds pass, but missed two free throws with five seconds left.

Legans weaved through the Yellowjackets and got the ball to Holbrook.
