Hit-and-Run Driver Strikes Police Officer
A hit-and-run driver struck a Los Angeles police sergeant in the Jefferson Park area early Friday, police said.
Sgt. Lyle Young, 46, a 25-year veteran, was hit at 12:15 a.m. at Adams Boulevard and Brighton Avenue, according to police.
As Young stepped out of his police vehicle, he was hit by a white late-model Honda and thrown about 30 feet into the street, said Curt Faulkner, a department spokesman. “A vehicle was coming up from behind the police car and struck him on the left side in a possible lane change.”
Young, who had a possible concussion and multiple abrasions, was treated at a hospital and released.
Anyone with any information regarding the accident should contact police at (213) 485-2088.
