Student Artwork to Be Displayed, Judged

Share

The imaginativeness of more than 160 Ventura County students can be evidenced at Oxnard High School, where an art show, part of a national PTA program called “Reflections,” will be hosted Tuesday.

The artwork--created by 163 finalists--ranges from paintings to photography to musical and literary compositions. Sixteen first-place winners will be announced at a 7 p.m. awards ceremony.

More than 1,000 entries were submitted from Ventura County’s PTA councils, representing Camarillo, Conejo Valley, Hueneme, Oxnard, Simi Valley and Ventura school districts. This year’s theme was “Wouldn’t it be great if . . . ?”

The top entries in each category from four age groups will advance to the state Reflections competition, where they will be judged against entries from 33 other PTA districts in California.

State awards will be announced in May.

The local artwork will be on display at 6 p.m., an hour before the winners are announced. There is no cost to attend. Oxnard High is at 3400 W. Gonzales Road.
