Looking to make inroads with the Latino electorate, the California Republican Party will host a tri-county Hispanic Summit in Oxnard on Saturday.

The event, the first in a series of regional summits in Latino communities across the state, will feature Atty. Gen. Dan Lungren, Assemblyman Rod Pacheco and Republican leaders from around the state.

The summit will be held at the Residence Inn at River Ridge, 2101 W. Vineyard Ave., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also attending will be Blanquita Callum, a radio broadcaster of the “American Family” and “Live from the Capitol” programs.

Callum is a member of the Republican National Committee’s New Majority Council, which works to bring the GOP’s message to minority communities.

Assemblyman Nao Takasugi (R-Oxnard), who is chairing the summit, will join community activists and leaders from Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties to discuss issues of education, crime and small business.
