School District Will Continue Day Care
Child care programs offered through the Fullerton School District will continue in the 1998-99 school year.
District trustees this week voted 4 to 1, with Kim Guth dissenting, to submit an application to continue the state’s preschool and day care at Valencia Park, Sunset Lane and Maple elementary schools.
The programs cost about $640,000 annually and are funded by the Child Development Division of the state Department of Education.
The trustees who support the programs said they offer a vital service to more than 250 children from low-income families.
Guth said she opposed the program--at least at Valencia Park--because of the space it needs on the overcrowded campus.
