Shock Blows Past Liberty in Winning Sixth in Row
Cindy Brown and Korie Hlede combined for 30 second-half points, pushing the Detroit Shock to an 82-65 victory over the visiting New York Liberty before 9,166 on Wednesday night.
After losing the first four games in its inaugural WNBA season, the Shock (6-4) has won six in a row. New York (5-5) had a four-game winning streak snapped.
Brown, who added eight rebounds, led four Shock players in double figures with 22 points. Hlede finished with 18 points--all in the second half.
Sophia Witherspoon led New York with 13.
Cleveland 92, Washington 80--Isabelle Fijalkowski had 19 points and eight rebounds and four teammates scored in double figures in the Rockers’ victory over the Mystics (1-8) before 10,364 at Washington.
Cleveland, which shot a season-best 58.9%, improved to 5-3.
Nikki McCray led the Mystics with 19 points.
