Irvine, Kernan Lead Vigilantes Past Sonoma County, 3-0

The Vigilantes shut out Sonoma County, 3-0, in a Western Baseball League game in front of an announced crowd of 801 Tuesday night at Rohnert Park Stadium.

The Vigilantes, third in the Southern Division, improved to 21-21. Second-place Sonoma County is 23-18.

Pitcher Kirk Irvine picked up his fourth victory, giving up five hits (all singles) and striking out five in eight innings. Josh Belovsky, who came on in the ninth, had two strikeouts to gain his second save.

Tracy Edmondson gave the Vigilantes a 1-0 lead in the third inning when he scored from third on an error by the catcher.

Phil Kernan homered in the sixth inning and Bodie Shepherd’s single to center in the seventh inning drove in Tim McDonnell for the Vigilantes.

McDonnell and teammate Michael Moore each had two hits.
