The Tarzana Property Owners Assn.’s recently elected officers will begin one-year terms during an installation dinner Sunday.

The officers are Helen Itria Norman, president; Leonard Shaffer, first vice president; Irma Dobbyn, second vice president; Kathy Delle Donne, treasurer, and Elizabeth Tigar, secretary.

For Norman, who has been an association member for 30 years, the upcoming term marks the second year in which she will serve as president.

She said eliminating the excessive use of signs along Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana was one of her goals.

“We’re just about to begin a signage sweep of the boulevard that will clean up the signage violations that have been proliferating such as sandwich boards on the sidewalks, banners, balloons. All that trashy stuff,” Norman said. “We really want to make Tarzana sparkle and I think we’re on our way.”

During Norman’s first year as president, the association installed a “Welcome to Tarzana” sign on Ventura Boulevard at Lindley Avenue and opposed allowing Public Storage Inc. to move into a lot on the corner of Ventura and Vanalden Avenue currently occupied by a garden statuary facility.

The association has represented Tarzana residents for 35 years and serves more than 700 families.
