Svorinich to Lead Board Overseeing Rail Project
Los Angeles City Councilman Rudy Svorinich Jr. on Thursday was elected chairman of the governing board overseeing construction of the Alameda Corridor rail cargo project.
The board of the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority--which is overseeing construction of the $2-billion project--elected Svorinich to succeed Jeffrey Kellogg, a Long Beach city councilman. Svorinich will chair the board’s monthly meetings, sign official documents on behalf of the board and represent the agency.
Once completed, the Alameda Corridor will provide a 20-mile train link between Los Angeles County’s two ports and rail yards near downtown Los Angeles.
