Plant Malfunction Causes Low Water Pressure

Share

Up to 40,000 Antelope Valley residents experienced low water pressure and some temporary water outages Thursday night after a treatment plant malfunctioned, a Los Angeles County Department of Public Works spokeswoman said.

The Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency, which sells water to the county, cut off its supply of water to residents about 4 p.m. after its treatment plant experienced problems, said public works spokeswoman Jean Granucci. The water agency provides about 60% of the Antelope Valley’s water supply, she said.

The county was forced to switch to a backup system of ground-water wells to serve its customers in Palmdale, Lancaster and surrounding unincorporated areas.
