Rodney Allen McCarty; Towing Service Owner

Rodney Allen McCarty, co-owner of an Oxnard towing service, died Saturday as a result of a traffic accident. He was 31.

McCarty, who was born in Ventura and lived in the county his entire life, helped to build up McCarty & Sons Towing and Lowbed Services. McCarty, a resident of El Rio, began working in the family business at an early age and eventually developed close friendships with many customers.

McCarty attended Bethany Chapel in Oxnard while growing up and more recently Bible Fellowship Church in Ventura.

McCarty was a member of a number of organizations, including the California Tow Truck Assn., California Trucking Assn., Ventura Contractors Assn. and the Oxnard, Port Hueneme and Ventura chambers of commerce.

Rod is survived by his father, Bill, mother Carol, brother Brian, sister Suzanne, grandmothers Birtie Cowan and Prebble McCarty and girlfriend Charlene Andrade.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Oxnard at 936 W. 5th St. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park at 2052 Howard Road in Camarillo.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in honor of McCarty be sent to the following organizations: Bible Fellowship Church, 6950 Ralston St., Ventura, CA 93003; Women of Towing and Recovery Assn. of America Scholarship Fund (Attn: Rhonda Bischop), 8325 Golden Ave., Lemon Grove, CA 91945; and Friends of Towing, P.O.
