Vigilantes Rally to Top Crushers

A five-run rally in the seventh inning broke a tie and gave the Vigilantes a 9-4 Western Baseball League victory over the Sonoma County Crushers Wednesday at Saddleback College.

Brent Hansen gave up five hits in seven innings to pick up the victory for the Vigilantes, who improved to 3-5 in the second half. Sonoma dropped to 5-2.

After Sonoma scored twice in the fifth on a two-out error by shortstop Tracey Edmonson to tie the score, 3-3, the Vigilantes put together six hits in the winning rally.

Kendrick Davis singled home a run to break the tie. Phil Kernan and Alan Burke followed with run-scoring doubles, and Kevin Tahan drove in a run with a single. A fifth run scored when Michael Moore grounded into a force play.

Manny Gagliano’s two-run single in the first inning had sparked the Vigilantes to a 3-0 lead.

Hansen (4-4) struck out eight and walked four, allowing only two earned runs.
