Help Sought in Finding Robber-Kidnapper
Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find a man who robbed a Hughes Market and briefly kidnapped a store employee Saturday. The employee was not injured. The armed robber walked into the store at 9091 Garfield Ave. at 8:45 p.m. and demanded money from a 49-year-old female employee, Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Jim Perry said.
Then the gunman forced the Garden Grove woman to leave with him, telling her she would ensure his getaway, police said. He drove north on the San Diego Freeway in his newer-model tan Nissan sedan, before dropping her off at a gas station near the Westminster Boulevard exit.
Police described the man as white, 50 to 60 years old, 5-foot-8, with white hair. He was unshaven, and wearing a white and blue cap, a blue Windbreaker and blue jeans. Anyone with information should call Fountain Valley police at (714) 593-4485.
