Credit for Banners

Share

In reading your article regarding the Sunland-Tujunga banners (“Business Owners Try for Banner Days”).

I felt the large percent of the credit was misdirected. True, Councilman Joel Wachs was able to waive the $45 permit fee per banner, but that is where his contribution stopped. But to be fair to Councilman Wachs, that is all that was asked of him. The local business owners paid to have these banners made and hung with business dollars--not one penny of tax dollars.

Barbara Hughes, president of the Sunland-Tujunga Chamber of Commerce, and Steve Elowe are the two people that got this good idea at the first Business Focus meeting and went into action and accomplished this wonderful deed, after six months of preparation. The thanks should go to the Sunland-Tujunga Chamber, Elowe of Eminent Design and Councilman Wachs. Please give credit where credit is due. I am one of the business owners who paid for one of these banners.
