Two Compton gang members have been arrested after allegedly robbing 10 or more people at gunpoint during a three-day crime rampage in Lawndale, Hawthorne, Lennox, South Gate and Inglewood, police said.

Calvin Respert, 19, and a 17-year-old youth were arrested Sunday afternoon after a witness wrote down the getaway car’s license number and Hawthorne police traced its registration to a Torrance address. A third suspect, also a Compton gang member, remains at large.

Hawthorne Police Lt. James McInerny said the juvenile suspect confessed, telling investigators that the three committed “so many robberies, we can’t remember them all.” Officers found about half a gram of rock cocaine on the suspects, McInerny said.

Respert is being held at Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail on suspicion of armed robbery and drug possession. He will be arraigned today at Inglewood Municipal Court. The 17-year-old is being held at Los Angeles County Juvenile Hall.

Anyone who might have been a victim of the suspects is urged to call Hawthorne police at (310) 970-7981.
