Hall of Fame Will Be Open Three Nights

The Orange County Sports Hall of Fame is scheduled to reopen Friday, one of three summer dates allotted for public viewing of the collection.

The Hall of Fame, located adjacent to the right-field concourse at Edison Field, will open its doors before and during Friday’s Angel-Boston Red Sox game.

The hall also will open for two other Friday night games, Aug. 21 against the Toronto Blue Jays and Sept. 18 against the Seattle Mariners, Munson said. Visitors will be asked for a $1 donation to help cover operational expenses.

The Angels and hall officials agreed to close the facility during much of the 18-month stadium renovation project that concluded this year. However, with private parties booked into the hall before many games this summer, hall president Ed Munson said it would be impossible to resume daily operation this season.

“We don’t want to be open and closed all the time,” he said.

Munson said he hopes to set regular operating hours before the Angels’ 1999 season.
