A 15-year-old boy barricaded himself in his house for more than four hours Wednesday after he and five male accomplices allegedly robbed one clothing store and burglarized another, authorities said.

Members of a Sheriff’s Department SWAT team rushed into the house in the 38400 block of Sumac Avenue and took the boy into custody about 9:15 p.m., said Deputy Steve Sciacca.

The five other suspects--four juveniles and one adult--had been arrested earlier in the evening on suspicion of robbery and burglary, he said.

The incidents began about 4 p.m., when six people--at least two of them armed--robbed a clothing store in the 900 block of East Palmdale Boulevard, Sciacca said. Less than 30 minutes later, the same suspects burglarized Araiza, another clothing store on Palmdale Boulevard.

About $150 worth of clothing was taken from the two stores.

About 10 minutes later, deputies spotted the suspects’ car--a blue two-tone Chevrolet Suburban that had been reported stolen May 30.

When deputies stopped the Suburban, five of the suspects remained in the vehicle, but the 15-year-old fled, running into what was later determined to be his own home, Sciacca said.

Deputies were searching the boy’s house late Wednesday for a .38-caliber handgun and a sawed-off shotgun.
