Dave Ochoa resigned as baseball coach at Villa Park High, Athletic Director Frank Becker said Wednesday.

Ochoa, whose teams compiled a 24-27 record in two seasons, guided the Spartans to the second round of the Southern Section Division II playoffs in 1998.

Brian Shoup also resigned as boys’ soccer coach. He will be replaced by Sean Bartko, a former goalkeeper at Villa Park who played in the county’s senior all-star game in 1995.

Mike Lussier has been named boys’ soccer coach at Servite, Athletic Director Larry Walker said.

Lussier has been boys’ junior varsity coach for several years at the school. He replaces Scott Cutshall.

Pepperdine has announced the signing of five Orange County water polo players, who will join Capistrano Valley senior Eric Meadows in the Waves’ program this fall.

Joining Meadows, a goalkeeper, are drivers Robert Grayeli of Golden West College, Jordan Hewko of San Clemente and Matt McPherson of Foothill. Also signed are two-meter man Mike Peetz of Golden West and goalie Joseph Wilkes of Edison.

The school also said Chris Van Reusen, an outside hitter from Edison, has signed to play men’s volleyball, and Kate Desmond, a forward from Mission Viejo, will join Edison midfielder Yvonne Pierson on the women’s soccer team.
