League of Women Voters to Honor 5
The Ventura County League of Women Voters on Sunday will honor five members who recently died.
Speakers will reflect on the lives and work of the deceased members during the 2 p.m. program at the Ventura County Museum of History and Art.
Those to be remembered are:
Phyllis Dwire of Somis, who was an activist with Planned Parenthood.
Carla Bard of Oak View, who was a director of the Environmental Defense Center.
Cathy Bean of Ventura, who once served on the Ventura City Council.
Bob Holcomb of Oxnard, who was an educator and Democratic Party activist.
Janice Stewart of Ojai, who was an activist for the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People and the American Civil Liberties Union.
