The Iranian team lodged a complaint with the World Cup organizing committee and FIFA when privately owned Channel M6 broadcast the film “Not Without My Daughter” on Monday night. The film, based on a true story, portrays Iranians in a negative fashion.
“We see this as nothing but a political exercise and as an insult to our country, our government and our players,” said Safaei Farahani, head of Iran’s soccer federation.
