Open House Honors Center’s First Year

Share

An open house today will mark the first anniversary of the San Fernando Valley Child Guidance Clinic’s Community Family Center, which operates out of a two-bedroom apartment in the Park Parthenia complex in Northridge.

During its first year of operation, the center has provided free health, social and legal services to 462 adults and children, said Jelga Ramirez, the clinic’s community outreach program coordinator.

The clinic today will honor agencies that have contributed to the center’s success, Ramirez said. The Northeast Valley Health Corp. has provided residents with HIV testing; El Centro de Amistad has assisted Spanish-speaking families with housing and medical paperwork; Van Nuys attorney Frank Fernandez has provided legal services; and Children’s Bureau of Southern California has conducted parenting classes.
