Singer Arrested on Suspicion of Battery
Singer Bobby Brown was arrested Sunday on suspicion of misdemeanor sexual battery at the Beverly Hills Hotel, police said.
Brown was arrested about 4:15 p.m. on the complaint of a woman--whom police declined to identify--on suspicion of “unlawful touching for the purpose of sexual arousal,” said Beverly Hills Police Lt. Joe Lombardi.
He was released about four hours later on $2,778 bail pending a July 17 appearance in Beverly Hills Municipal Court.
For Brown, the husband of singer and actress Whitney Houston, the arrest was the latest in a series of brushes with the law.
Brown was sentenced earlier this year to spend five days in jail and undergo drug and alcohol treatment in connection with a Florida drunk driving conviction stemming from a 1996 accident.
He was sentenced to two years probation in 1995 after pleading no contest to kicking a hotel security guard in West Hollywood.
He was also charged with drunk driving in Atlanta in 1996 and with aggravated battery in connection with an incident at a Florida nightclub in 1995.
