Share

vs. Charlotte Sting, 7:30 P.m.

* Site: Great Western Forum.

* Radio: KLAC (570).

* Records: Sparks 2-3, Sting 4-1.

* Update: The Sparks hope to complete a homestand at 2-1 tonight and reach .500 for the season, against a team trying to take advantage of league champion Houston’s move to the Western Conference. The Sting is tied for the Eastern Conference lead with Cleveland. The Sting has blended a hot rookie, Tracy Reid (15 points per game) with sharpshooting veterans Andrea Stinson and Andrea Congreaves, both of whom are shooting 56% from behind the three-point arc. Charlotte is looking for three in a row after victories over Detroit and Phoenix. In a 72-71 win at Phoenix on Sunday, Reid had 21 points and eight rebounds. The Sparks faded badly in the stretch of a 79-63 loss to Houston on Sunday in the Forum. Los Angeles’ Lisa Leslie leads the WNBA in rebounding at 13 per game and is third in scoring at 19.0. Her challenge tonight is Charlotte’s Vicky Bullett, averaging seven rebounds. Backup guard Jamila Wideman practiced again Tuesday and may be activated for tonight’s game.
