When South Korea’s coach, Bum Kun Cha, was fired after his team had lost to Argentina and the Netherlands, assistant Pyong Sok Kim was given temporary charge of the squad.

He was the defender assigned to guard Diego Maradona when South Korea played Argentina at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
